New Compact ETX Module

Source: Adastra Systems
Adastra Systems, a member of the JUMPtec Embedded Computer Technology Group, introduces the new ETX-P1 (Embedded Technology eXtended). The ETX-P1 is the first product in a new line of low profile, modular, plug-on CPU modules designed to meet the needs of advancing embedded computer technology.

Based on the Intel Pentium processor with MMX technology, the ETX-P1 module is designed for very low-power operation, and can be used without active cooling. Within the 100 x 114 x 10-mm dimensions of the board, the ETX-P1 offers all standard PC interfaces, including sound, USB, and high-speed AGP graphics. The ETX-P1 also offers total connectivity via multiple communication interfaces (Ethernet, EIDE, serial, and more) and is expandable through full implementations of the ISA and PCI busses.

ETX modules create the ability to rapidly develop semi-custom solutions for embedded systems. The ETX modules incorporate the core CPU and memory subsystems together with SVGA, Ethernet and additional I/O and interconnect to the rest of the embedded system through high-density, low profile SMT connectors, which carry both ISA and PCI bus signals as well as dedicated I/O interfaces.

This extremely compact motherboard is ideal for use in applications where low power - MORE - operation is needed and/or space is limited. Intended to be an exchangeable CPU plug-in to an application-specific baseboard, the ETX-P1 creates new possibilities in modular system design. The new ETX standard also drastically reduces customers' time to market. Other planned ETX boards will range from 586 to Pentium III processor performance classes.

The ETX-P1 with Ethernet, Flash disk, graphic and sound is available from Adastra Systems for $461, quantity 100. For information, contact Erika de Porcel at 510.732.6900 (voice), 510.732.7655 (fax), or sales@adastra.com (email).
