Avnet Embedded recently announced an exclusive and comprehensive phone and email technical service for Italian customers covering the whole family of Windows Embedded operating systems. The service is delivered in the Italian language by a team of technical specialists.

"We are one of the first Microsoft Authorised Embedded Distributors in Europe to offer this level of support," said Cesare de Siena, Business Development Manager Italy for Avnet Embedded. "The service is based on a call centre with a team of technical specialists offering response via email, phone and Skype. These specialists are Italian speaking and each have typically over 25 years of relevant technical experience. In addition, we can enrol customers on dedicated hands-on training courses at the Microsoft Innovation Centre in Italy."

Nick Donaldson, Director of Software, Avnet Embedded, added "This service is a European first for Avnet Embedded. Our vision is to roll the same concept out Europe-wide, using our experience in Italy as a model."

Avnet Embedded is an Microsoft Authorised Embedded Distributor, and supports the complete suite of Embedded operating systems. As a Distribution Partner, Avnet is continuing to offer and support Windows XP Professional for Embedded Systems until 2016. Windows XP Professional for Embedded Systems is technically identical to the desk-top product in every respect except that the licensing terms are for fixed function devices only. It also offers Windows Embedded Standard, which delivers all the benefits of Windows XP Pro in a componentised format to create a custom operating system designed specifically for the target application. Avnet Embedded also offers; Windows Embedded POSReady for retail applications, Windows Embedded CE, the componentised real time operating system (RTOS), Windows Embedded NavReady and Windows Embedded Server.

The training and on-line support are delivered in partnership with Turin-based BEPS Engineering, a Windows Embedded Silver partner with certified Microsoft windows embedded trainers. BEPS has been a Microsoft Embedded partner since 1998 and were presented with an Excellence Award for their work as a Training Partner in 2008.
