D2 Technologies Improves Universal Mobility With Latest vPort Embedded VoIP Software

San Jose, CA - D2 Technologies, the market leader in embedded software platforms that power IP communications, recently announced that its flagship embedded VoIP product, vPort, has increased its universal mobility capabilities by resolving the problem posed by firewalls and Network Address Translation (NAT) traversal. Through broader support for the Internet Engineering Task Force's (IETF) standards, including STUN, TURN and ICE, vPort eliminates barriers created by disparate communications platforms and individual network security implementations, such as what might exist between a user and a corporate network. As a result, vPort now guarantees the delivery speed and quality of VoIP calls and allows manufacturers to quickly and affordably deliver the latest VoIP-enabled communications devices to market, including dual mode phones, triple- and quadruple-play devices, advanced VoIP adapters/gateways, IP phones and other mobile devices.

"VoIP-enabled devices have traditionally had a problem delivering advanced applications such as online gaming, video and messaging through NATs," explained Doug Makishima, vice president of marketing and sales at D2 Technologies. "By adding support for the latest IETF standards, vPort now ensures VoIP connectivity regardless of network platform or firewall. This enables customers to develop new products that take full advantage of both traditional SIP-based VoIP and the latest VoIM protocols such as XMPP and other signaling protocols for messaging services such as GoogleTalk, Yahoo!, MSN Messenger and Gizmo."

D2's vPort is available in four versions:

  • vPort MP (Mobile Platform) – WiFi (VoWLAN) and dual-mode mobile phones
  • vPort GW – CPE gateways, ATA/router/IAD and triple-play devices
  • vPort IPP – IP desktop phones and speakerphones
  • vPort CP – cordless VoIP/VoIM phones and base stations

vPort already leads the market in embedded VoIP performance, efficiency and platform support, enabling networking, signaling and voice processing functions to execute as an integrated solution on a single processor. Now, in addition to increased standards-based support, D2 has added high definition audio for improved fidelity, Secure Real Time Transport Protocol (SRTP) and its unique Internet Service Interface (ISI) layer across all vPort product lines. The ISI enables multiple IM, VoIP and e-mail services as well as concurrent sessions, and can be customized to meet specific OEM application requirements.

Through March 20, Spring VON.x attendees can get a first look at the next generation of D2's vPort embedded VoIP software running on mobile devices in Room K at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose (CA).
