EBSnet releases WEBster 2.0

EBSnet,an established provider of embedded internet software since 1987,announced the release of the newest version of WEBster,their embedded Web browser and Graphic User Interface Software Development Kit.WEBster 2.0 offers secure sockets,HTML based GUI development tools,cookies and improved URL load performance.

Since its original release in 2000,WEBster has been well received.Written in portable ‘C ' and C++,the web client uses the PEG Graphics library from Swell Software.WEBster supports HTML 3.2 and can run on as little as 120K of code,64 of data.The PEG graphics library requires approximately 190K of code depending on the processor.The browser supports frames,forms, GIF,JPEG,animated GIF,file,HTTP,HTTPS and FTP.WEBster can run in conjunction with EBSnet 's RTIP,any other TCP-IP network stack,or can run standalone.

WEBster is a powerful tool for developing embedded GUI applications .WEBster 2.0 supports Document Object Model Version 1.DOM provides a structured interface between the GUI code and the underlying C++code.With WEBster,HTML authoring techniques are used to storyboard the GUI application.Later on,C++code is added to provide better control and feedback for the GUI and to provide interaction between the GUI and the underlying environment.Using DOM,WEBster offers an interactive interface with the simplicity and flexibility of C and C++within the rich presentation environment of HTML, making WEBster an easy to use development package and run time environment.

WEBster 2.0 includes a C++callback mechanism for GUI events processing,a fully dynamic and customizable user interface and support for multiple font families,and cookies for Internet user/site tracking.Secure socket layer features are available to increase network transaction security for sensitive data and e-commerce devices.Mozilla Javascript will be available Q2 2001.
