conventional design methods.
Using today's DSP chips, it's fairly easy to design hardware that connects a large number of processors into a very powerful multiprocessing array. You can even do it using standard off-the-shelf plug-in boards from a variety of DSP board vendors. But writing software for such systems, using single-processor strategies, is a complex and time consuming task.
The Pegasus system allows developing software at a high level, and it defines a complete framework of conventions that make parallel processing code development manageable and efficient.
