AdvancedMC™ boards are being adopted in platforms ranging from custom designs and blade servers to AdvancedTCA® products and MictoTCA™ systems which are based on backplane populated with AdvancedMCs. These new cards are being considered by companies in the military and commercial markets as well as those in the enterprise and telecommunications space. Why? Because AdvancedMC modules bring a truly modular approach to systems design that no other mezzanine form factor has offered in the past.
Although the AdvancedMC™ (Advanced Mezzanine Card) standard is a subset of the AdvancedTCA® specification it is far more than "just another mezzanine card." AdvancedMC boards are being adopted in platforms ranging from custom designs and blade servers to AdvancedTCA® products and even MictoTCA™ systems which are based on backplane populated with AdvancedMCs. The PICMG® (PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group) consortium of over 450 companies published the AdvancedMC base-specification, AdvancedMC.0, in January 2005. Since then, there have been a number of product announcements and pre-announcements which suggest the ecosystem for AdvancedMC modules is building significant momentum. More telling is the fact that market demand for this technology is real, and customers are anxious to build platforms using the scalability and modularity of AdvancedMCs today.
