Kozio Announces VTOS DDR™, Industry's First Automated DDR Tuning And Test Tool

New solution delivers faster DDR margining and testing than traditional methods while maintaining the highest verification quality

Longmont, CO (PRWEB)

Highlights:

  • Automates DDR margining for DDR, DDR2, mDDR/LPDDR, and DDR3 used on custom circuit board designs
  • Integrates with Kozio’s vAccess™ to speed up production line DDR testing
  • Powerful embedded verification algorithms provide significantly reduced DDR test times

Kozio, Inc. (http://www.kozio.com), a proven provider of embedded software tools for hardware verification and programming, today announced the Kozio® VTOS DDR™ tool for DDR configuration, tuning, and verification; the industry’s first DDR tuning and verification tool suitable for verifying new board designs, new product introductions, and full volume manufacturing test. Built using the proven VTOS™ embedded software for hardware verification, VTOS DDR accelerates the process of configuring new DDR, DDR2, LPDDR, and DDR3 memories, while providing built-in verification algorithms that have been thoroughly tested and enhanced over many years.

With the increasing speeds of DDR memories, accurate DDR margining is required for all embedded product designs. The designer must take into account custom circuit board characteristics, unique memory parts, and must recalibrate settings for any board design or memory part change. VTOS DDR employs a unique approach of utilizing minimal system-on-chip (SoC) resources to provide a stable on-device application for configuring, tuning, and verifying DDR memories without embedded device restarts. This new approach does not require any compilation of embedded software in order to work with VTOS DDR. Configuration, margining, and testing of DDR is performed at run time without compilation and system restarts, saving engineers weeks to months of effort.

For custom circuit designers, VTOS DDR provides a tool that is easy to install with no steep learning curve. The task-focused VTOS DDR user interface makes it easy to configure DDR settings, adjust memory part settings, use JDEC timing values or register values, and tune any and all DDR register settings. With its integration with Kozio’s vAccess™, VTOS DDR circuit board project information is easily exported for execution with NI’s TestStand, or inclusion with any third-party test executive. Manufacturing test engineers can easily integrate VTOS DDR into their production test process providing comprehensive DDR testing, a typical requirement for high-reliability products utilizing DDR memory.

“With increasing DDR speeds, coupled with increasing board complexity, accurate DDR margining is becoming important for embedded product designs. By automating DDR margining and test, the VTOS DDR tool offers customers of Sitara™ AM437x processors the option to reduce effort while avoiding configuration and characterization errors,” said Carlos Betancourt, Marketing Manager for Texas Instruments.

“Kozio is committed to providing its customers with world-class embedded tool solutions,” said Joe Skazinski, chief technology officer at Kozio. “VTOS DDR is our first offering in this new focused product line, and we are very pleased with the results and the positive customer feedback.”

VTOS DDR is part of the new Kozio line of embedded tools, which includes VTOS Program™ and VTOS Scan™, addressing complex challenges faced by semiconductor, component provider, and system companies.

Availability
VTOS DDR™ is available for a number of SoC families including TI’s Sitara AM335x and AM437x, Freescale’s QorIQ and i.MX6, and others. For more information, visit http://www.kozio.com/vtos-ddr. Support for a new SoC can be released in as little as a month, please contact us to request support.
