Description

The MTC1210 is a 1 to 16 demultiplexer (DMUX) operating at rates up to 13 GB/s for use in SONET OC-192, SDH STM-64, and proprietary system applications. In a typical application, the demultiplexer accepts a 10 GB/s data stream from a high speed fiberoptic network and converts it into 16 differential outputs at 622 Mb/s.

The internal asynchronous counter accepts a nominal 10 GHz clock from an external clock and data source. This clock is divided by 16 to generate the outgoing low frequency clock. The low speed parallel data channels are time-aligned to the clock, divided by 16, to provide 16 low jitter synchronous outputs.

All data and clock I/O use Current Mode Logic (CML) buffers and are provided with on-chip 50W terminations to minimize external component count. The MTC1210 is provided in a 128 pin quad flat pack (QFP) and operates from a -3.5V and -5.2V power supplies. The circuitry was designed for use in equipment which is required to comply with Bellcore, ANSI, and ITU-T international standards for SONET and SDH systems.
