About Us

Parallax, Inc. was founded in Sacramento, California in 1988 with the purpose of developing computer and microcontroller hardware solutions. Early products included the Apple Sound Ace, a digitizer card for Apple II users, and 8051 programming tools. In 1990 Parallax released the first third-party programmer for Microchip® PIC controllers, and sold over 12,000 units around the world before discontinuing the product in 1998. In 1992 the first BASIC Stamp was released, marking a long-term research and development effort in which over 700,000 BASIC Stamps were in use by engineers, hobbyists, and educators. Our most recent product addition is the SX-Key programmer and debugger for Scenix chips. Scenix is a privately held semiconductor company in California's Silicon Valley.

Parallax prides itself on quality workmanship, professional sales and technical support, and development of innovative microcontroller development tools that are easy to use. Parallax is a privately held California Corporation with 30 employees.
