16-Bit Data Acquisition

Analogic Corporationogic DCP announces the availability of the CPCI-16-1, a high speed, high precision, multifunction, plug-in data acquisition system for CompactPCI. Packaged in a 3U Eurocard form factor, the CPCI-16-1 features a 16-bit, 200 kHz sampling A/D converter that provides 95 dB spurious-free dynamic range and relative accuracy of ±0.003%. The 3U card format and its vertical installation cage provide user access, heat dissipation, and secure mounting.

The CPCI-16-1 also features dual 16-bit, 100 kHz analog output channels, and two programmable 8-bit digital I/O ports. All analog and digital interfaces are accessible through the front panel via a pair of 26-pin, high density D-type connectors. Software support includes a Windows NT driver, and an OS-independent set of C routines that can facilitate the interface to the CPCI-16-1, and assist in the development of application programs.

Software, an on-board precision reference, and dedicated D/A converters configure a "hands-off hardware calibration" that can maintain the ±0.003% relative accuracy of the CPCI-16-1, eliminating the need for potentiometers, external reference sources, and software overhead required by post-acquisition software calibration routines. Analog I/O ranges, timing sources, and acquisition modes are all defined and programmed through software.
