The Assembly Management System (AMS) is a suite of applications that help you manage the assembly process. AMS is primarily a document control system that is tailored for manufacturing work instruction management. Work instructions created using AMS are more graphical, which leverages the benefits of actually seeing pictures (or video clips) of assembly operations augmented with text as necessary. The images can be imported into AMS from existing files, or scanned from hard copy. AMS also allows CAD files to be incorporated into the work instructions where such specific information is requred. The work instructions are maintained under tight revision control to ensure quality assembly. Data collection tools allow information to be collected about plan authoring and during the assembly process. Collected data is stored in a ODBC compliant relational database (Microsoft Acess, SQL Server 7, or Oracle 8), and can be analyzed at a later date for process improvement efforts. AMS integrates well with existing PDM, ERP/MRP, MES/SFC, and SPC applications allowing AMS to become a key part of your electronic manufacturing system.
