Bar Code Imager: New Data Tracking And Inspection Solution For Clinical Instruments

Microscan announced the first megapixel bar code imager to include inspection of caps and test tubes. Manufacturers of lab automation systems and diagnostic equipment can now implement inspection and data tracking together in one easy solution. The new MS-4 EZ Match imager can evaluate cap type, detect absence or presence of caps and tubes, and read linear and 2D bar codes. The MS-4 EZ Match will be actively displayed in Microscan's Booth #1949 at AACC 2007.

The lightweight, ultra compact MS-4 EZ Match imager features the widest scan window available for reading bar codes at close range and capturing caps and test tubes together in one image. "Specimen container inspection is a real benefit to automated labs," said Andy Zosel, Director of Product Management for Microscan. "For example, adding inspection can virtually eliminate pipette crashes and the costs and downtime associated with them.
