Conexant And Interpeak Launch 802.11 Wireless Solution For Embedded Developers
Newport Beach, CA and Stockholm, Sweden -- Conexant Systems and Interpeak, a supplier of Internet and security protocol solutions for embedded systems, today announced a new wireless solution for embedded developers. The solution integrates Conexant's PRISM GT 802.11g and PRISM WorldRadio 802.11a/g wireless local area network (WLAN) chipsets and Interpeak's IPNET and IPLITE dual-mode IPv4/IPv6 TCP/IP networking protocol stacks, allowing manufacturers to bring a new generation of embedded wireless devices such as cellular phones, printers, and digital cameras to market more quickly and cost-effectively.
"The Interpeak solution provides our customers with a fully integrated hardware and software solution based on proven networking and security protocols and industry-leading wireless technology," said Chee Kwan, VP of Conexant's Wireless Networking business. "Leveraging our joint expertise will allow product developers to focus their engineering resources on designing and introducing new embedded solutions more quickly, which can provide them with a competitive edge."
"There is a growing need for embedded systems to wirelessly access the Internet or a wireless LAN," commented Urban Lindegren, VP of sales for Interpeak. "Conexant's leadership role in wireless chipsets, combined with PRISM's configuration flexibility for both access point and client applications, creates the ideal match for Interpeak's wireless networking and security software."
The flexible platform is also interoperable with many major real-time operating systems including INTEGRITY, OSE, and Linux. This allows manufacturers to leverage initial development work across multiple products, independent of the operating system, which saves time and conserves valuable engineering resources.
