The DEV7TDMI Development Board is a ready-to-run code and ASIC development platform. Because of its many features, it is ideal for use as a software development target while your ASIC and target hardware are under development. The DEV7TDMI is the most versatile of a family of evaluation and development boards offered by EPI for the ARM architecture. It consists of a universal motherboard and an ARM7TDMI daughterboard. The motherboard may be used with a choice of processor-specific daughterboards. This allows you to upgrade to support the ARM9 architecture by the addition of EPI's ARM9 test processor daughterboard. The motherboard offers most of the features you will likely have on your final target board or ASIC. This makes it an ideal real-time execution vehicle for the software engineer.

The ARM7TDMI daughterboard comes with a ARM7TDMI test chip. If desired, you may specify a test chip from a specific ASIC or microprocessor vendor. This assures you that the characteristics of the ARM7TDMI core is derived from the same foundry as your final ASIC. The daughterboard supports the AMBA and provides connectors for attaching in-circuit emulators or logic analyzers. The connectors may also be used to attach an expansion module (optional). The daughterboard supplies 5V-to-3V voltage converters to allow the use of 3 volt processors while maintaining operation from a standard 5 volt power supply. The DEV7TDMI is compatible with both the EPI and ARM software toolkits and comes with a pre-ported ANGEL debug kernel installed. It works with the EPI JEENI and ARM MultiICE JTAG emulators and is compatible with in-circuit emulators from EPI and other vendors that provide emulation for the ARM7TDMI test chip. The DEV7TDMI is manufactured, marketed and supported worldwide by EPI under license from ARM, Ltd.. EPI also manufactures the board for distribution by ARM, Inc.. The EPI DEV7TDMI is identical to the ARM Model PID7T.
