Green Hills Software to acquire InterNiche Technologies
"Our decision to acquire InterNiche marks a key milestone in establishing Green Hills as the number one provider of royalty-free embedded software tools and enabling technology," said Dan O'Dowd, president of Green Hills. "We have been working closely with InterNiche over the last two years to strengthen our embedded Internet offering and add Internet connectivity to our development tools and real-time operating system platforms. Now, we are bringing that capability in house to further solidify our position as a total solution provider."
"I think we have found an excellent partner to help us continue the explosive growth of our embedded Internet and networking technology," said Larry Larder, president of InterNiche Technologies. "Now, the industry leader in royalty-free development tools and RTOSs will be able to offer best-of-breed Internet connectivity that spans multiple RTOS platforms, providing the industry's only Internet-enabled development and run-time solution that addresses both mission critical and deeply embedded applications."
InterNiche offers a full line of software for adding Internet connectivity to embedded systems. Utilized by leading computer, telecom, industrial, and consumer electronics companies worldwide, InterNiche's products include a TCP/IP protocol stack, web server (WebPort), World Wide Web browser (NicheView) servers for POP3 e-mail, TELNET, DHCP and FTP, routing protocols (NATrouter and PPP), and SNMP network management software.
Green Hills' INTEGRITY and ThreadX real-time operating systems provide full support for InterNiche's embedded Internet products, making it easy to add Internet connectivity to a broad range of mission-critical and deeply embedded systems. INTEGRITY is a ROMable, flashable, high-availability, fault-tolerant RTOS optimized for mission-critical, high-availability applications such as telecom/datacom, defense, medical, and aerospace systems. ThreadX, utilizes a picokernel design that delivers sub-microsecond context switching time while occupying just 5 kbytes of memory.
Green Hills' MULTI 2000 Integrated Development Environment automates all aspects of software development for most major RISC and CISC microprocessors and DSPs. Tightly integrated with the INTEGRITY and ThreadX RTOSs, MULTI features optimizing C/C++, FORTRAN and Ada 95 compilers, a programming editor, a source-level debugger, a graphical program builder, and run-time error checker. MULTI 2000 also includes a version control system, instruction set simulators, and performance profiler.
