I-Logix distributes 12,000 free copies of Rhapsody Modeler software
"The interest in the Modeler edition of Rhapsody has been truly overwhelming, blowing past our expected goals by a 3x factor," said Gene Robinson, president and CEO of I-Logix. "When we launched Modeler, we believed that there were vast numbers of developers who wanted to explore UML model-based design to cut down their design times and improve productivity, but were hampered by the cost of acquisition. The feedback we are getting regarding Modeler (indicates) that this was exactly what the market needs to further push model-based design to the forefront."
"We were already using another UML-based tool, and when I-Logix began offering Rhapsody Modeler for free, we were compelled to try it," said Dean Oswald, vice president, Software Tech Inc. "Rhapsody Modeler provides superior capability, particularly in the area of Sequence Diagrams and Statechart Diagrams. After using Modeler for a brief period, we were intrigued by the additional code-generation capabilities offered by Rhapsody Developer, and began evaluating it. The Rhapsody real-time framework provides a good starting point in developing a more complex, portable, real-time application, and the reusable, state-based software accurately implemented the Statechart Diagram captured in the model."
The Rhapsody product family is designed to provide developers with a range of standards-based UML solutions addressing all phases of the software development process, including analysis, design, implementation and test. Designs generated with Rhapsody Modeler are upgradable to other versions of the Rhapsody product family - Developer and Solo - which enable production code to be automatically generated from the Rhapsody UML model, downloaded onto the target embedded device, and thoroughly tested.
Rhapsody was the first product to leverage the Unified Modeling Language (UML) standard. Furthermore, Rhapsody builds upon this standard graphical notation to create an executable UML modeling environment. Developers can easily construct executable applications with features such as Web-based remote monitoring and control, real-time behavior, and distributed processes. Rhapsody enables developers to improve their productivity, reduce design time and improve quality, which are critically important in many of today's high-availability embedded devices.
