IAR Systems Announces Broad Tools Support for Freescale's ColdFire Architecture

Orlando, FL - IAR Systems, a leading supplier of embedded development tools, announces a comprehensive suite of tools for Freescale's ColdFire® microcontroller (MCU) architecture. The tool suite – IAR YellowSuite – is available to embedded developers using ColdFire MCUs based on the V1 and V2 cores. IAR Systems also plans to offer the tool suite for Freescale's S08 8-bit MCU architecture in Q1 2008.

At the heart of IAR YellowSuite is IAR Embedded Workbench, the company's flagship C/C++ compiler. Integral to IAR Embedded Workbench is the C-SPY debugging tool for testing of code using either a simulator or a hardware debug probe, such as IAR J-Link.

Using the combination of visualSTATE and IAR PowerPac with IAR Embedded Workbench enables developers to increase the feature richness and code quality of an application while reducing implementation complexity and improving maintainability.

The evaluation edition of IAR YellowSuite is available with Freescale's evaluation boards for the ColdFire V1 and V2 cores and IAR KickStart Kits for the V2 core. IAR YellowSuite will be available for ColdFire architecture in September 2007.
