Enea OSE Systems, Inc.ndler interconnects groups of nodes (CPUs) and makes interprocess communication transparent to programs running on different CPUs. A node connected to it can be any type of CPU, or a UNIX workstation. It automatically supervises all connected nodes and communicating programs, facilitating the creation of fault-tolerant systems. The link handler has an open interface to protocol stacks, which allows an OSE system to be built using any kind of physical link and transmission protocol. It allows for an unlimited number of nodes— even within multiple networks. No master node is required in a distributed system running OSE, so any node can fail without halting the system.
