Lynx And NSIcom Form Strategic Alliance

Lynx Real-Time Systems, Inc. and NSIcom announced that they have formed a strategic alliance that builds on innovative Java technology to provide standards-based products for the real-time and embedded markets. Applications in the telecommunications, data communications, avionics, and automotive industries will benefit from the combination of NSIcom's Software Co-Processor for Java (JSCP) family of products for the highly-reliable LynxOS.

NSIcom is the technology vendor-of-choice for implementing Sun Microsystems' Java in the embedded environment. The Lynx real-time operating system, LynxOS, provides a Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) embedded software solution that combines full determinism, flexible scalability, protection of application software through hardware memory management, complete POSIX compliance, and support for high availability.

"NSIcom extends the high performance LynxOS real-time operating system environment by adding a powerful Sun-compliant Java solution for embedded design," said John Seaton, VP marketing, Lynx Real-Time Systems. Through our Synergy Partner Program, we will work together to provide a high quality and robust solution that meets our customers' most demanding requirements."

Incorporating NSIcom's encapsulation technology, JSCP overcomes standard Java Virtual Machine (JVM) paradigm porting issues. JSCP offers embedded systems users an unmatched combination of Java advantages and LynxOS real-time capabilities -- high robustness, deterministic operation, small-memory footprint and easy maintainability. The encapsulation technology enables Java application threads to be executed as a single task in parallel to real-time tasks under the LynxOS kernel.
