The MERLIN Single Board Computer was designed for use where multiple communications channels and networking capabilities are required.

The MERLIN Single Board Computer provides the performance and reliability of previous generation boards, with the addition of on-board Ethernet at a reduced cost.

Datalight's ROM-DOS OS and Sockets Internet Protocol and network communications software is pre-installed on the board.

The MERLIN features the Intel 25MHz 386EX CPU surrounded by a host of functionality including: 3 serial ports, 10 BASE-T Ethernet, 2MB DRAM, 1MB Flash, optional 512K battery backed SRAM, Real Time Clock, I/O port and an on-board 8 - 18V DC (or 10 - 16V AC) power supply.

The MERLIN is rated at an operating temperature of –20 to +60°C, and has been designed to meet European CE standards. The board is supplied as standard with Datalight's ROM-DOS 6.22 Operating System and Datalight's Sockets network communications application.

As with all Arcom CPU boards, the MERLIN is available in a ready to run Development Kit. The MERLIN Development Kit contains all hardware and software to allow the design engineer to begin development immediately. Included in the Development Kit is:

  • MERLIN-SE SBC pre-loaded with TCP/IP stack and ROM-DOS.
  • 12V Power Supply
  • All cables
  • Quickstart manual
  • CD containing Arcom's MERLIN software library, technical manual, binary images, example code, Datalight's software documentation and component data PDF's

The board is available in two variants:

  • MERLIN-SE (DOS) (512Kbyte battery-backed SRAM)
  • MERLIN (DOS) (no SRAM fitted)
