Onset Computer Corporation, a supplier of battery-powered data loggers, recently announced the TidbiT v2, a compact data logger for underwater temperature monitoring applications.

Offering higher resolution and increased memory capacity over the company's original TidbiT data logger, the new TidbiT v2 provides reliable temperature measurements at depths of up to 1000 feet.

"With the TidbiT v2, we have been able to leverage the durability and accuracy of our original TidbiT logger - which has become an industry-standard in a number of markets - and enhanced it to offer more capability to ecologists and other researchers," said Paul Gannett, Onset product marketing manager. "And, by adding compatibility with our new HOBO Waterproof Shuttle, TidbiT users now have a way to quickly and easily offload data in the field, even when the logger is wet."

Other new features include:

  • Fast, reliable data offload via a high-speed optic-USB interface
  • Battery status check
  • Long-life battery (5 years typical)

For plotting and analyzing water temperature data, Onset offers HOBOware® software, believed to be a highly intuitive graphing and analysis software package for PC and Mac computers. HOBOware provides a user-friendly graphical user interface and enables users to quickly and easily plot, analyze and print data files, as well as export data to spreadsheet programs.

The TidbiT v2 is currently available from Onset. You can visit http://www.onsetcomp.com for more details.
