Neptune-P3™

Adastra Systems Corporation today announced the NEPTUNE-P3™, a new Single Board Computer (SBC) for embedded applications. Based on the proven Intel® BX chipset, the NEPTUNE-P3 supports the socket-370 Pentium III and Celeron™ processors up to 850MHz. Major onboard subsystems include amplified audio and 10/100Mbit Ethernet. The NEPTUNE-P3 offers versatile expansion options through its embedded (pin-and-socket) versions of the PCI and AGP busses. The 5.75" x 8" (EBX) NEPTUNE-P3 is designed with chassis-mount peripheral connectors that make mechanical integration simple and economical.

The NEPTUNE-P3 supports up to 512M bytes of 3.3V SDRAM memory, in two DIMM sockets. Both the onboard 10/100Mbit Ethernet and audio subsystems are high performance PCI peripherals. The onboard audio is SoundBlaster Pro and Windows Sound System compatible and includes bridge mode power amplifier. Disk interfaces include two Ultra DMA EIDE and one floppy disk. Also onboard are two deep-FIFO serial ports (both with RS-232 and one RS-485 support), one enhanced parallel port, PS/2 keyboard, PS/2 mouse, and two USB ports (with overcurrent protection). The NEPTUNE-P3 supports 5V only operation and control of ATX power supplies. 12V is required for a CPU fan and the audio subsystem.

The NEPTUNE-P3 is ideal for "headless" applications, where neither a graphics monitor nor a display is required. For applications that do require graphics, the NEPTUNE-P3 supports an embedded AGP bus. A low-profile AGP graphics adapter for this bus, based on the S3 Savage2000 chip, is available that can supply high-end graphics to the NEPTUNE-P3.
