NetSilicon's NET+Works™ "Solution-on-Chip" Enables Wireless, Web-Based Remote Monitoring and Management for Business-Critical Automated Operations

Further demonstrating the efficiency and cost-savings of device networking in facilities management and equipment control, NetSilicon, Inc. today announced that its networked "solution-on-chip" technology, NET+Works, has been selected by World Wireless Communications, Inc.'s, X-traWeb subsidiary to provide essential network-connectivity for X-traWeb's first generation X-Gate™ Internet gateway product. World Wireless Communications, Inc.(AMEX: XWC) is a leading developer of wireless and embedded Internet systems, technology and products. NetSilicon is the leading provider of integrated hardware and software for intelligent, networked devices.

"By using NetSilicon's integrated device networking platform in the superior X-Gate product, X-traWeb opens new avenues for innovation in the building and equipment control industries by freeing them from the physical constraints of designing their products for a hard-wired world," commented Cornelius "Pete" Peterson, chairman and CEO, NetSilicon. "Adding this essential network connectivity to X-Gate with NET+Works allowed X-traWeb's design engineers to cut months off of their development time. This helped X-traWeb get X-Gate to market much more quickly, providing an important competitive advantage."

The X-Gate is a small, rugged Internet gateway that serves as the core of the X-traWeb Internet-enabling system. The X-traWeb system is comprised of the X-Gate and X-Node™ products. Each X-Gate enables communication with hundreds of X-Nodes on a single X-traWeb network (a node being a embedded systems device connected to an Ethernet or Internet network). The X-Gate acts as a proxy server routing the data through a dial-up or Local Area Network (LAN) connection to the Internet. The X-Gate does not need regular human intervention, making it more reliable and less apt for failure. This is important because the device was developed from decades of experience in the remote control of critical facilities such as pipelines and offshore production installations.

The X-Node is the world's smallest Web server. It is remarkably durable in most environmental conditions, and can be easily attached to virtually any device. In essence, the X-Node collects and translates data or information prescribed by the end-user and begins the process of remote monitoring and control of equipment over the Internet. That data travels from the X-Node to the X-Gate, then to a browser in a readable format.

Customers for the X-traWeb system include leaders in such industries as utility and energy management, vending, security, and quick serve restaurants.

NetSilicon's NET+Works product family is a fully integrated, tested and production-ready embedded platform comprised of complete hardware, software, real-time operating system (RTOS), network protocols and servers, application programming interfaces (APIs), drivers and utilities - fully supported and royalty-free. By elevating the traditional hardware-only system-on-silicon approach to a tightly coupled "solution-on-chip," NetSilicon is able to give OEMs an out-of-box solution that allows design engineers to increase focus on product design and meet time-to-market demands. NET+Works is used in a variety of applications such as Internet telephony, building access and control, wireless base stations, industrial automation, office appliances and handheld computing.

"With NET+Works' tested and fully integrated hardware and software architecture, we were able to we were able to focus our design resources on X-traWeb's unique application, rather than network integration," said David Singer, CEO of World Wireless Communications, Inc. "By providing a complete networking platform on a single chip, NetSilicon allowed World Wireless to cost effectively develop and deliver to our customers the most reliable wireless monitoring solution available."
