PC Card

The Model HD717 serial communications controller PC Card supports HDLC and two ARINC 717 serial data protocols. This PCMCIA card is capable of using both synchronous and asynchronous protocols up to four Mbits/sec with the 8530 comms controller chip (SCC) with an RS-422/RS-485 interface. The SCC is mapped directly into the PC's I/O space and so the device appears just as it would if it were on an ISA or PCI board, except than on-card Fifos are used to act like two DMA channels for the SCC.

The input and output circuits function independently. Data rates are software programmable and cover the bit/sec settings of 768, 1536, 2304, 3072 and 6144. Digital I/O drivers on eight lines are provided for use as general purpose control outputs and/or status monitoring inputs.
