PCI/PMC Expansion System

DY 4 Systems Inc.h PCI/PMC Expansion System will expand the number of industry standard PMC modules attached to a VME Single Board Computer. Using DY 4 Systems Inc.h PMC Bridge module an SBC can now extend its PCI bus over the backplane to interface with up to 4 additional off-board PMC modules for enhanced I/O flexibility and lower overall system cost.

The system makes the PCI bus available through the P0 backplane connector so that it can be connected to adjacent slots. It enables additional PMC modules to be attached to either an SBC or to PMC-capable DSP products such as the quad PowerPC CHAMP-AV; it allows the interconnection of multiple processor cards via a high-sped PCI secondary backplane; and provides a private PCI path to custom I/O cards.

The system is comprised of three primary components: a PCI-to-P0 bridge PMC module available in three rugged grades, a dual PMC 6U air- or conduction-cooled VMEbus carrier card, and two-slot and three-slot PCI-P0 sub-backplanes.
