PEP Modular Computers Inc. Computers Inc. has introdued an MPC8240 PowerPC-based 3U CompactPCI processor board. The CP320 is based on the 250MHz Motorola MPC8240 PowerPC chip, an integrated microprocessor built around a PowerPC 603e core with an on-chip FPU and PCI interface. The CP320 provides up to 128MB or SDRAM with ECC, up to 8MB direct soldered Flash, 64 Kbit user EEPROM, and options for 2MB NVRAM and up to 288 MB Disk on Chip. The CP320 achieves computing performance of 6.6 SPECint95, 5.5 SPECfp95 and 375 Dhrystone MIPS.

The board has on-board serial I/O, Fast Ethernet, and a PCI expansion connector. An Intel 82559 Fast Ethernet Controller, with an integrated 10/100 Mbps physical layer device is a low power consumption and compact LAN controller. The product also includes one RS-232 serial port and an opto-isolated RS-485 port. An an option, a second RS-232 port can be provided instead of the opto-isolated RS-485 port.

The board is available in three operating temperature versions: standard (0°C to +60°C) extended E1 (-25°C to +75°C) and extended E2 (-40°C to +85°C).
