Ramtron Launches Development System For New Versa 8051 MCU

Colorado Springs, CO -- Ramtron International Corporation launched the VersaKit-20xx, a complete and comprehensive evaluation platform that supports the VRS51L2070, Ramtron's newest high-performance Versa 8051 microcontroller.

The VersaKit-20xx facilitates system prototyping and design development with the VRS51L2070 – a system-on-chip with a 40 MHz 8051-core, DSP extensions, a JTAG program/debug interface and a robust set of enhanced communication interfaces. The kit ships complete with:

  • Development board that supports the VRS51L2070
  • Versa-JTAG programming/debugging interface
  • DB25 Parallel Cable
  • Power supply

The development board incorporates: A set of probe vias and header footprints for access to chip peripherals and I/Os; a RS-232 transceiver and two DB9 connectors for UART access; eight user LEDs; two tact switches for manual reset/interrupt triggering; ample prototyping space; and a JTAG access for in-circuit programming and real-time debugging of the VRS51L2070.

For evaluation of Ramtron's FRAM memory devices, the board also features an FM31256 Processor Companion, an FM25CL64 (Serial SPI FRAM) and an FM24CL64 (Serial I²C FRAM).

Ramtron programming and debugging software is provided free with the VersaKit-20xx.
