Socket A Motherboard

Several new system management and protection features have been integrated into the new SY-K7VTA motherboard to maximize performance of as well as protect AMD's Duron and Socket-A CPUs and other board components. The board pushes the microprocessor and chipset envelope to a new level with its VIA KT133 chipset, and 200MHz system interface. It comes in an ATX form factor, and supports all Socket-A based AMD CPU's to 1GHz with 200 MHz FSB. It includes six 32-bit busmastering PCI slots, one 16-bit ISA slot and one AGP slot with 4X graphics support. The board uses standard SDRAM DIMM sockets with support to 1.5GBs of RAM.

The board features on-board Ultra I/O, which includes double stack back-panel connectors with four USB ports. It includes an integrated IDE controller with Ultra DMA 33/66, AC97 link for audio and modem; one floppy disk port, two RS-232 serial ports, one parallel printer port, PS/2 Mini-DIN mouse & keyboard ports, and an IrDA port with optional cable for transceiver.

The motherboard is ideal for digital content creation, 3-D graphics processing, commercial 3-D modeling, CAD/workstation, image compression, speech recognition, and a variety of mainstream applications. New technical innovations include "Voice Doctor," which monitors the system's hardware configuration during the boot-up process to make sure the CPU, memory, VGA, hard disk drives, floppy drives, and keyboard are all working normally.

The Fan Off Control (FOC) feature provides protection for the CPU. It automatically powers off the system should the CPU fan malfunction. Another feature is the Wake-on-LAN. When the system is turned off, the managed network adapter uses an alternate power source to monitor the network and watch for a wake-up packet from the server. The board can be custom configured directly though the BIOS setup page without jumpers.
