Taiwan's Leading IPC Designer Introduces First IDE Flash Disk

ICP Electronics Inc., Taiwan's largest designer and manufacturer of IPC products, announced the industry's first IDE Flash Disk. ICP Flash Disk, which is designed to replace the conventional rotating hard disk, fit conventional drive bays and offer storage capacity ranging from 4MB to 512 MB.

ICP Flash Disk is an IDE Disk based on flash technology. It covers the form factor ranging from 1.8, 2.5 and 3.5.

Compared to conventional hard disks, ICP Flash Disk offers lower power consumption, faster access time, operates more efficient in harsh environments. The ICP Flash Disk can also withstand shock and vibration, making it very suitable for the industrial applications.

ICP Flash Disk is 100% IDE HDD compatible, meaning no software driver is needed. The new device provides a complete Plug and Play solution with 512 Byte Sector and supports 16-bit Reed Solomon Algorithm Error Detection (EDC) and Error Correction Codes (ECC). With a 3.3V or 5V interface, the Flash Disk supports automatic power management as well as ATA power down commands and sleep mode over the interface.
