Tornado for Industrial Automation

Wind River Systems, Inc introduced Tornado® for Industrial Automation, the company's first integrated vertical solution for the industrial measurement and control market. The complete development solution combines Wind River's leading VxWorks® real-time operating system (RTOS) and Tornado® integrated development environment (IDE) with the popular DeviceNet protocol stacks - simplifying and shortening the development cycle and thereby enabling customers to create highly functional and innovative industrial devices.

Tornado for Industrial Automation is comprised of the Tornado IDE, which includes the VxWorks RTOS, and an implementation of the DeviceNet specification and supporting CAN drivers for the VxWorks RTOS. Tornado for Industrial Automation is designed to shift the focus of embedded industrial device developers from the integration of enabling technologies to the development of the application itself. In addition, other industrial automation products such as the VxOPC development solution can also be used in conjunction with Tornado for Industrial Automation.
