Building on its momentum from the Phar Lap Software acquisition, VenturCom, Inc. released Embedded ToolSuite (ETS) 10.0. ETS, a 32-bit x86-based real-time operating system based on Microsoft's Win32 API, was obtained through VenturCom's recent acquisition of Phar Lap Software.

ETS 10.0 includes several enhanced networking features including:

  • SNMP - A new ETS library supports SNMP agents in embedded applications and provides standard SNMP MIB-II network information. The user also has the ability to add application-specific MIBs.
  • WinInet - The Microsoft WinInet FTP Client API provides the ability to access network services using the FTP protocol. A sample FTP client program is included to demonstrate the features of the API.
  • Win32 Serial Interface - ETS 10.0 includes a fully compatible implementation of the Win32 serial I/O API that supports both overlapped and non-overlapped I/O.

"VenturCom is committed to continuing Phar Lap's legacy of providing a complete and easy to use out-of-the-box RTOS solution," says Frank Logan, VenturCom's director of corporate development.

VenturCom's ETS provides one of the easiest development environments for embedded applications. It offers leading real-time performance and an exceptional development environment for creating embedded applications. As applications grow, VenturCom offers Windows CE and Windows NT Embedded as logical migration paths.
