Actis ComputerSBC-6862 is a 6U VME board based on Motorola's PowerQUICC II communication processor. The board uses the capabilities of the PowerPC 603 operating at up to 266MHz, and the RISC communication engine that are built inside the PowerQUICC II chip. The board incorporates two Fast 10/100 Ethernet ports, four SCC serial ports (HDLC) with transmission speed exceeding 20 Mbit/s, and several auxiliary ports (two SMC ports and one I2C port).

The Ethernet and serial ports are connected to the RISC processor that handles all communication and networking protocols independently of the PowerPC core. All four HDLC serial communication ports are field programmable with jumpers to handle RS-232, RS-422, RS-485 and V-35 compatible interfaces. The two asynchronous serial ports support RS-232 interfaces. The board's faceplate includes two RJ45 sockets for the 100Base-TX Ethernet connection and four Sub D connectors for the PowerQUICC communication ports.

The board is also expandable through the use of four VITA-4 standard Industry Pack (IP) modules slots with DMA support.

The board comes with 32 Mbytes of on-board SDRAM, and 8 or 16 Mbytes of on-board Flash memory and includes an on board RTC/Calendar with an easily replaceable battery backup, and a 3.3 Volt switching power supply for single 5 Volt operations.
